*Sri Ananda Padmanabhaswamy Temple



              Sri Padmanabha Swami Temple is situated at East Fort near KSRTC Bus stand.

                             The staggering wealth discovered inside the secret vault of the Sri Ananda Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvanathapuram has brought back images of wealth of Indian shrines. An ancient tradition of making donations to the temples has meant that these temples are flush with wealth.

*Attukal Bhagavathy Temple


                                    It is a grand festival with the deity idol taken out for a procession amidst thousands of women who gather in the temple premises to prepare Pongal. The sword of the Goddess is taken out and the priest blesses the devotees with it. Chendamelams, Nadaswarams, Kumbhakudam, Kathakali, Bharatnatyam, Mohiniyattam performances, music recitals, blasting of crackers, all this is a sight to behold.

*Thiruvananthapuram Zoo




                Thiruvananthapuram Zoo, one of the oldest in the country, was established as an annexe to the Museum in 1857 by the erstwhile Maharaja of Travancore in order to attract more visitors. Spread over in 55 acres of land , the Zoo has 75 different species of animals.

                              The Trivandrum Zoo is located in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram city, the capital of Kerala, India. It is one among the well designed in Asia and is set amidst a woodland, lakes and lawns. Thiruvananthapuram Zoo, one of the oldest in the country, was established as an annexe to the Museum (Napier Museum)in 1857 by the erstwhile Maharaja of Travancore in order to attract more visitors. This Zoo was originally set up for recreational purpose only. But with more and more loss of forest and wildlife in the process of human development, the goal of the Zoo changed from recreation to conservation. Today Zoos are seen as the last resort for endangered animals and birds. The Central Zoo Authority established in 1992 under the Ministry of Environment and Forest of India, enforces uniform management code to all the Zoos in the country and provide financial and technical support for the Zoos.

*Government Arts Museum

                       The Government Art Museum or Napier Museum, in the heart of Trivandrum city. 

                     The building is an architectural delight, combining styles of traditional Kerala architecture with Chinese and Mughal touches.
*Sree Chithra Art Gallery

            Sree Chitra Art Gallery is located near to the Museum. The art gallery was established in 1935.




*Observatory 

   Observatory is situated in the premises of Kanakakkunnu Palace. This is the highest area of the city, 60 meters above sea level.

*Science and Technology Museum 

The Science and Technology museum is located near the PMG office and the Muscut Hotel in the heart of Thiruvananthapuram city.

*Priyadarsini Planetarium 


                   Watching the orbiting planets and stars on a doomed ceiling through projectors is a fantastic experience to the spectators

*Kowdiar Palace

                              Kowdiar Palace is located at Kowdiar in Thiruvananthapuram District. Trivandrum International Airport is about 14 km and Thiruvananthapuram Central Railway Station is around 6 km from the palace.



                      Kowdiar Palace was the home of late Maharaja Sree Chitra Thirunal Balarama Varma and his family. Now, the descendants of the royal king reside here. 
                       Public are not permitted to enter the palace, but can view this grand old building from the gate. 
Raj Bhavan, Trivandrum Golf Club, Kanakakunnu Palace and Napier Museum are the nearby attractions. 

  *Chacha Nehru Museum 


This museum was established in 1980 and is named after the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.


  *Shanghumugham Beach

                                  Shanghumugham Beach is very near to the International Airport and is easily accessible from the Kovalam Beach, Veli Tourist Village and Akkulam 

                      Tourist Village. Shanghumugham beach is noted for its cleanliness. The vast stretch of white sand and the serene atmosphere, away from the crowd in the city, provide all the ingredients for relaxation and for spending an ideal evening.

 *Akkulam

                            Akkulam is one of the beautiful picnic spots, in the suburbs of Thiruvanan thapuram city. This place is only 10 kms. away and is easily accessible by road. The spot is developed on the banks of Akulam Lake, which is an extension of the Veli Lake. The calm and serene atmosphere and its unique natural beauty are a fascination for tourists. The Boat Club, which started functioning in 1989, now operates speed, safari, pedal and row boats from Akkulam to Veli Tourist Village. A traditional style Kettuvallom is also available for overnight stay. The swimming pool at Akkulam is equipped with glider and other playing facilities. The Children’s Park is a unique amusement spot. The newly commissioned musical fountain is an added attraction.

 *Veli

The Veli lagon is seperated from the Arabian sea by a narrow sand bar




*Kuthiramalika

Kuthiramalika is situated near East Fort, Thiruvananthapuram adjacent to Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple.

*Vizhinjam

Vizhinjam is located 15 km away from Thiruvananthapuram city. There is a small port at Vizhinjam now.
